Cardiff City Stadium

Treorchy Male Choir scored another goal in their illustrious career by becoming the first choir to sing at the new Cardiff City Football Stadium.

The 80-strong choir sang on the pitch of the 27,000 seater stadium at the opening ceremony prior to the pre-season friendly against Celtic on the 22nd July 2009.

The Cardiff City Stadium which is owned by Cardiff City Football Club will also host the Cardiff Blues.

Conducted by musical director Janice Ball, the choir entertained the crowds with renditions of You’ll Never Walk Alone, Men of Harlech and Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau.

Their performance came less than a month after their return from its 20 concert tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Choir Chairman Gareth Evans said the choir was deeply honoured to have been invited to perform at such a prestigious event.

Following the opening ceremony the choir relaxed and watched the game from the grandstand as complimentary tickets were issued to each of the choristers and the music staff.
